When the question of Iran and its nuclear ambitions was put to Newt Gingrich a few days ago it was phrased as "what would you do about Iran if you were president right now. " Gingrich was specific that he'd "green light" any decision by Israel to preemptively attack Iran's nuclear facilities saying that he doesn't think it right for the United States to tell an ally and one "whose people have already endured one... Basically, the Iranians have worked very hard to protect their nuclear facilities, putting them deep underground, hiding their existence and spreading out the number of facilities around the country. But with speculation about whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu might actually order a preemptive strike, has come a lot of questions about the possible effectiveness of any such attack. Mitt Romney has a forceful op-ed in today's Wall Street Journal about how, as president, he'd stop Iran from getting the bomb.
