Why Government Attempts To Encourage a “Green Economy” Are Almost Always a Bad ...

s new government ministers presented themselves to Queen Margrethe II last month, the incoming development minister established his green credentials by rolling up to the palace in a tiny, three-wheeled, electric-powered vehicle. s electric-powered vehicle was incapable of covering the 30 kilometers from his house to the palace without running out of power. So he put the electric minicar inside a horse trailer and dragged it behind his gasoline-powered Citroën for three-quarters of the trip, switching back to the minicar when he neared the television cameras. LIVESTOCK farmer Erik Natuse had no way of insuring his animals against disease or lightning strikes until a business concept pioneered by Nedbank , Old Mutual and Mutual & Federal introduced a community development savings programme. Known as Imbizo, the concept was piloted in 2004 and led to a one-stop financial service facility in Centane in the Eastern Cape in 2008. Then, through public meetings with the banking and insurance representatives, the local farmers asked for a product to insure their livestock against disease, drought and lightning.

How Scentsy got started, powerfully simple idea. | Scent of a ...

Enter Orville Thompson, who first encountered Scentsy at a home show in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2004. Orville and Heidi were intrigued by how smelling different scents brought powerful emotions and memories to the surface, and how natural it was to share those feelings and memories with others. Scentsy began in 2003 with the powerfully simple idea of aromatic candles – decorative warmers with wax melted by the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame. Colette Gunnell and Kara Egan, Scentsy’s founders, shared enthusiasm for the idea. From this idea, they created a partnership and Scentsy was born....
